Welcome to Brissie Life’s first monthly round-up, starting with things to do in Brisbane in June. Winter is upon us (woohoo!), which means clear sunny days along with a lot of festivals and live music. Here are some ideas that will get you making the most of your Brissie Life this June.
June 1 – 8, 2023
Scenic Rim Eat Local Month
- What – As the Scenic Rim Eat Local Month website will tell you, this is ‘Australia’s most authentic food and farming festival’. It’s a festival for foodies that celebrates the region’s farms, wineries and culinary experiences. There’ll be workshops and farm tours hosted by some of QLD’s best chefs.
- Where – All around the Scenic Rim region.
- When – May 27 – July 2.

Cheers to Cheese
- What – Cheeses and wine sampling/pairing. Ticket $30 + booking fee. Sample fromage cheese with matching wines followed by honeycomb, crackers and wood-fired bread.
- When – June 2 & June 30.
- Where – Ann Street Fortitude Valley.
Brisbane Marathon Festival
- What – Brisbane’s only marathon distance running event is a celebration of the marathon. Events include a half marathon, 10k, 5km walk/run and a mini-marathon.
- When – June 2 – June 4.
- Where – City Botanic Gardens.
Festa Italiana
- What – An Italian food market dedicated to Italy’s vibrant culture featuring guest chefs, live music, drinks and food.
- When – June 2 – June 4.
- Where – Howard Smith Wharves.
Milton by Moonlight Markets
- What – Milton’s weekly market hosts a celebration of winter with street food, live music and a pop-up bar.
- When – June 4, 4 – 10pm.
- Where– Corner of Cribb Street and Little Cribb Street, Milton.
Asgeir
- What – Icelandic singer/songwriter Asgeir is performing on stage.
- When – June 3.
- Where – Brisbane Powerhouse.
Logan Eco Action Festival (LEAF)
- What – A community eco-festival focusing on how we can reduce, reuse and recycle to create a more sustainable world. The event features workshops and presentations on sustainability, gardening and waste reduction. Entry is free.
- When – June 4, 9am – 3pm.
- Where – Griffith University, Meadowbrook Campus.
Brisbane in June, From 8 – 15, 2023
Luminous Lantern Parade
- What – A parade using light to symbolise hope and welcome newcomers to Queensland. The parade will begin in Southbank and end in the CBD.
- When – June 9, 5:30 – 8:30pm.
- Where – South Bank Parklands, Clem Jones Promenade South Brisbane.
Australian Tattoo Expo
- What – The biggest tattoo gathering in the Southern Hemisphere, showcasing over 400 tattoo artists. Get tattooed by the best artists in the country.
- When– June 9 – 11.
- Where – Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
GABS (Great Australasian Beer Spectapular)
- What – Recognised as one of the best beer festivals in the world, GABS has 120 unique craft beers for you to try. There’s street food, silent discos, beer education, games and entertainment of various varieties. Tickets are $50 per person.
- When – June 10.
- Where – Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Laternenfest
- What – German lantern festival celebrating all things German. Includes live German music, lantern-making competitions, prizes and entertainment. A family-friendly event that includes bratwurst, pretzels and gluhwein.
- When – June 10, 3pm – 8pm.
- Where – 140 Main Street, Kangaroo Point.
Pride Month Celebration Cruise
- What – Celebrating Pride Month on the Brisbane River. A night of cocktails, meals and dancing.
- When – June 10, 7pm.
- Where – Northshore Hamilton Public Pontoon departure.
June 15 – 22, 2023
Made Local Markets
- What – A market showcasing the best of local Brisbane, QLD and northern NSW craft makers.
- When – June 17 – 18.
- Where – Brisbane Showgrounds.
Park Vibes
- What – Victoria Park’s free live music series, including food trucks and kid’s activities.
- When – June 17, 11:30 – 4:30.
- Where – Victoria Park.

Scenic Rim Clydesdale Spectacular
- What – An event showcasing the best horse breeds, which includes working dogs, Scottish pipe and drum bands, blacksmith demonstrations, woodchopping, whip cracking and carriage rides.
- When – June 17 – 18.
- Where – Boonah Showgrounds.
Lifeline Bookfest
- What – Long-running book festival with an Enormous selection of second-hand books that raises funds for Lifeline services.
- When – June 17 – 20.
- Where – Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

State of Origin
- What – Game two of three of the long-running rivalry rugby league series between QLD and NSW.
- When – June 21.
- Where – Suncorp Stadium, 8pm.
Brisbane in June, From 22 – 30, 2023
Brisbane Burger Fest
- What – A celebration of all things burgers, including beers, cocktails and live music.
- When – June 24, from 11am.
- Where – The Triffid, Newstead.
World’s Biggest Web3 Classroom
- What – A day of immersive learning, workshops and inspiring talks about cryptocurrencies, emerging technologies and blockchain technology.
- When – June 28.
- Where – The Precinct, 315 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley.
School Holiday Activities, June 26 – 30, 2023
Possum Magic
- What – Stage adaption of the popular Australian book.
- When – June 29 – July 1.
- Where – Brisbane Powerhouse, New Farm.
Bounce
- What – an indoor trampoline place that helps develop and harness balance, coordination and agility. Lots of discounts and programs/camps during the school holidays, including get one hour free when booking a two-hour session.
