What’s on in Brisbane in February, 2024 – 36 Great Ideas!

What’s on in Brisbane in February 2024? Loads! And fortunately lots of activities that involve air-con and fans! This is also the month of Valentine’s Day and I’ve recommended here no less than six restaurants that are celebrating the day of lovers. There are also some big bands visiting town, Australia’s largest health and well-being event and let’s not forget the Luna New Year Celebration early on in the month.

Taste of QAGOMA: Tour + Lunch Experience

  • What – go on a tour of the Queensland Art Gallery and GOMA, hear the stories of old and relax in stylish surrounds of the GOMA Bistro, by the river.

BrisAsia Festival 2024

  • What – an Asian festival is in town, celebrating the Luna New Year and the Year of the Dragon. The event includes three weeks of street art, dance & performance, Asian cuisine, a Southside Dumpling Festival and much more!

Luna New Year at Donna Chang

  • What – Brisbane’s renowned Asian restaurant, Donna Chang, is putting on a shebang for the Lunar New Year. It’s a banquet at $138pp. Find out more here.

Nearly Midnight

  • What – ‘fanciful fun and whimsical artworks’ are on display at acclaimed local artist Rachel Burke’s exhibition Nearly Midnight. Find out more here.

Love Me Again Market

  • What – a stylish second-hand market full of bargains, featuring 30+ stalls and coffee and food vendors.

  • What – an art exhibition from local artist Martin Edge.

  • What – featuring informal conversations and workshops with members from Brisbane’s migrant communities. Participants are encouraged to use paper kites to tell their stories as a symbol of the migrant experience.

Margarita Festival Month.

  • What – Calling all margarita lovers! Mucho Mexicano is putting on a month-long margarita bash, featuring $7.50 mini margaritas in original, passionfruit or coconut form.

Chicago

  • What – Broadway’s longest-running musical, Chicago is in town!
  • Where – QPAC’s Lyric Theatre.

Dangerous Goods

  • What – ‘an unapologetic and hot-as-hell cabaret of provocative performances, jaw-dropping physical feats and powerful acts’.

Rent

  • What – this award-winning musical is gracing our shores with some more quality entertainment. Aren’t we lucky duckies!

Waitangi Day

  • What – dog and family-friendly markets featuring food trucks full of Kiwi delights, such as hangi, creamed paua, along with a traditional powhiri ceremony, live music and more!

Blind Guardian

  • What – these German heavy metal legends are in town, their first time in the country in over nine years. Check em’ out!

  • What – a celebration of the Year of the Dragon, including lion dances, live DJs, Japanese drummers and fireworks.

  • What – a music and comedy event about the legendary Bette Midler, starring Catherine Alcorn.

  • What – apparently he’s a well-known actor and comedian and he’s doing a show. Perhaps check him out?

Big Band Cabaret Dinner & Show

  • What – a Valentine’s Day special extravaganza, featuring a big band, cabaret and dinner of course, in a grand music hall. There’s a three-course meal with a beer, wine and sparkling package. Dinner and show package is $119 per person.

The Day of Lovers

  • What – Massimo Restaurant is hosting a Valentine’s Day event with Italian eats, drinks and live music.

  • What – I know, another bloody Valentine’s Day dinner recommendation! Well, I’m putting this one in as it’s one of our favourite restaurants. I might even see you there! The Libertine, in Caxton Street area, is putting on a 7-course meal for $85 pp, and every single dish has a gluten-free option! (Which my partner loves).

Beauty and the Beast The Musical

  • What – the Queensland Symphony Orchestra playing Sdraulig, Mozart and Dvorak.

  • What – Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture brought to life by Camerata and acclaimed pianist, Alex Raineri.

The Stanthorpe Apple & Grape Harvest Festival

  • What – a festival featuring the Queensland Country Bank Food & Wine Fiesta, the Channel 7 Grand Parade, grape-crushing championships, a long lunch, an apple pie and apple peeling competition, markets, music and a whole lot more!
  • Where – Stanthorpe, of course!
  • When – Feb 23 – 29.

Eats & Beats

  • What – a free entry, family-friendly event featuring food trucks, live music, a waterpark playground and more! This is a pet and alcohol-free event.
  • Where – Flagstone Adventure Playground.
  • When – Feb 23, 5pm – 9pm.

Mind Body and Spirit Festival

  • What – Australia’s largest health and wellbeing event is coming to town. The event features over 200 exhibitors, free seminars, stage performances and uber-tasty health food!
  • Where – The Brisbane Convention Centre.
  • When – Feb 23.

Dinosaur Jr

  • What – renowned alternative rock band Dinosaur Jr is coming to town. Yippee.

Poly Flava 2024

  • What – a colourful Polynesian festival, featuring Samoan fire dancers, Maori Hakas, lamb buns, pig on the spit, Polynesian food stalls and more! Find out more here.

Kings of Convenience

  • What – Indie pop duo from Norway – Kings of Convenience – are in town, belting out their harmony-rich songs for us Brisbanites in our sweltering February.
